Casual First Date: Improv Show
Tāmaki's weird little improv darlings are back for another year of comedy joy that gleefully collides the mundane and the strange! Casual First Date pull apart true stories from their lives and put them back together as silly, snappy, and even super-deep scenes, sketches and skits. Featuring anything from singing hedges, talking fingers, star-crossed lovers and everything our performers can imagine, CFD have sold out shows and brought improv joy across the motu.
If you love improv but not audience interaction, no-one is brought on stage, you just shout out a single word, and we'll build a whole universe for you from there!
You know what they say, you're not wasting a Friday night on a first date if it's Casual First Date! All the chaos of a first date but the bizarre characters stay on the stage, instead of the other side of the dinner table.
Erotica Open Mic Reading
Elina (that's me) is back in Auckland for the month of March and I got too itchy after taking a Storyo break so I'm running our classic community event at beloved Movespace!
This one is inspired by my lover, New York City!
It's an Open Mic to read and share poetry, prose, stories, diary entry, texts or voicenotes, music, performance pieces (literally anything) on Erotica theme.
What does that include?
Anything about bodies
Love & relationships & heartbreaks
Pleasure & sex
You get 5 minutes max, and you can share your own stuff or stuff you liked by someone else!
Of course, if you don't feel like sharing but want to hear all the goodness, come along!
I will buy us sweet treats and start us off for the evening, and then it's all "put your hand up and read" kind of vibe!
Auckland is SO sexy but we lack spaces to express it so I want to create a bit more of that here!
Love y'all and can't wait to see you there!
Bring a friend, a lover, a family member if you dare 💕

James Gray NZ Tour
James Gray is a contemporary version of an old-school traveling folk singer. In the past decade, Gray has toured Canada, Europe, Australia and New Zealand seeing the world and sharing his beloved songs along the way.
A unique finger style guitarist, with a vocal that is hauntingly beautiful, Gray, often accompanied by a rather droll, humorous stage patter, immerses himself in each and every song with a soulfulness and attack that is infectious and disarming. With a broad grin and good natured chuckle, Gray will often smile into the microphone and state matter of factly that he wants you to remember who he is.
Galvanized by the idea to speak to the human condition through the creation and delivery of song, Gray drew from his deep love of legendary songwriters such as John Prine, Townes Van Zandt, Gillian Welch, to guide him throughout the songwriting process. James believes these songwriters honed the ability to teach the listener about themselves and to open up that part of themselves they didn’t know already existed. Gray firmly holds this to be the ultimate goal of being a songwriter.
James has released three albums, the most recent in 2023 entitled “New Friends That Talk Like Old Friends.” This May 2026, James is set to release his 4th studio album entitled Daydreamer. In 2019 James won himself a spot at The Mariposa Folk Festival through their showcase auditions. James has since been invited to perform at 5 Mariposa folk events, The Northern Lights Festival Boreal, 2 Troubadour Festivals, The Muskoka Music Festival and recently James was a headliner at the Roots North Music Festival.
Gray has recently returned home from touring throughout western Europe and New Zealand. This past festival season James was invited to perform at both the Northern Lights Festival Boreal and the Mariposa Folk Festival where he had the honour of warming up the main stage for Bruce Cockburn.

Casual First Date: Monthly Improv Show
Silly, surreal, strange and (sometimes sadly relatable) sketch comedy where quick wits put the petal to the metal!
Casual First Date is a team of improv comedy best buds who pull together a fully improvised show from just the loose lint in their brains. It's a fast-paced, freaky and friendly evening where anything can happen, from wormholes activated by embarrassment, to noodle wizards, to the floor falling in love with you!
Each show is different, featuring a revolving cast; Mel Bass, Rebecca Mary Gwendolon, Helen Jarvis, Karolina Brock, Gareth Blackler and Catalina Vercelli Giurda. If you love improv but not the audience interaction, all we need is one word to slice apart and put back together as scenes, sketches and skits.
PEBBLE — LOVE IN EVERY CITY - Poems and Songs from the Road
PEBBLE — LOVE IN EVERY CITY
Poems and Songs from the Road
After seasons of wandering through foreign cities, sharing songs with strangers, and capturing stories from the road, PEBBLE has spent the past few years on an open-ended journey: traveling across continents in search of the deepest stories, the wildest love, the purest expression of what it means to be human. From late-night train stations to hidden cafés, from sunlit rooftops to candlelit stages. PEBBLE has been gathering moments and melodies from everywhere he goes, transforming them into songs and poems that reflect a life lived wide open.
“Love in Every City” is the next chapter in that journey, a stripped-back, soul-forward performance that brings those stories home.
Backed by a vision to build a global movement of traveling artists who choose authenticity over perfection, connection over isolation, and creative ownership over compromise, PEBBLE’s work invites us to remember what we’re really here for: to live, to feel, to share.
Joining PEBBLE on this night of songs and poetry are the incredible Amy Cotter and Honey for Jupiter, bringing their own powerful voices and artistry to the stage.
This show is a moment of reflection and reconnection
Join us for an intimate night of music, poetry, and storytelling at MoveSpace, Auckland. A suitcase full of songs. A guitar by the table. A heart full of cities.
The Ruckus
THE RUCKUS is your local long form fantasy improv show complete with a live improvised soundtrack. Each month a fresh lineup of performers bring the noise and love of all things fantasy to the MoveSpace lounge.
WHAT THE HELL IS IT? Each show is unique. The players will roll some dice and make up characters on the spot while other variables like goals, locations and scenarios are also randomised and tossed in for spice. You could be in for a trumpet playing goblin in a sewer town or a tree impersonating a bank manager. Anything goes at The Ruckus (except preparation).
BE WARNED! As the chaotic story unfolds some fates and outcomes will be determined with the roll of a dice. During the show The Dice Goblin, resident assistant/fiend, may approach you to roll a die. Generally we find it best to just do as he demands, but a sharp kick to the shins should get him to move along.
With an atmosphere that's been described as "full noise", The Ruckus sashays the line between live podcast recording and comedy show.
This is the DIY fantasy nerd punk show you didn't know you wanted!

Something in between—and a little beyond.
Come As You Are is the first gathering curated by Time & Place and headlined by Auckland's favourite DJ, Chrome Kiss. It's a modern third space for people who crave connection that feels easy, thoughtful, and real.

Come alone. Come with a friend. Or bring someone you’ve always wanted to get to know better, in a space that invites something different.
What to expect:
